PLANER

A planer is used to remove bituminous layers from roadways/pavements

To successfully pass the assessment the operator must be able to:

• Pre-operational checks
• Pre-Planing safety checks
• Manoeuvre planer to working area
• Correctly set-up the machine for planing operations
• Liaise with Tipper drivers to ensure safe system of work
• Correctly Planed the roadway to the satisfaction of the site agent / foreman
• Park road planer safely on firm level ground
• Remove ignition key
• Carry out daily maintenance / service as required
• Clean as necessary
• Re-fuel and check for defects
• Leave machine safe and secure
